Pulse Scalper is a fast, rules-based intraday scalping approach for MetaTrader 5 that blends a volatility-derived trend filter, an intraday value reference, and a momentum/micro-reversal trigger. It is intentionally simple so execution quality and tight risk control are the edge. The strategy uses freely available custom indicators from the MQL5 CodeBase

Indicators (suggested from the MQL5 CodeBase)

Use the following (all available in the MQL5 CodeBase). You can replace them with other similar indicators if you prefer — keep the same functional roles.

1. SuperTrend (trend / filter) — dynamic trend line based on ATR; bull/bear state and clean direction.

2. ATR Percent or ATR (volatility sizing & filter) — to size stops and avoid extreme volatility.

3. Bollinger Bands Crossover or Price-Band indicator (micro-entry & squeeze detection) — detect compression / break candidate or mean-reversion bounces.

4. WaveTrend or MA-of-RSI (momentum / trigger) — a fast momentum oscillator to time entries with low-lag confirmation. 

Concept & timeframe

• Timeframe: primary M1; optional M5 for slightly slower scalps.

  Instruments: highly liquid FX pairs (EURUSD, GBPUSD), major indices if your broker allows tight spreads.

  Edge: trade small moves in the direction of the fast, ATR-confirmed micro-trend when price briefly retraces toward intraday value or a lower band and momentum re-accelerates. Keep targets small and SL very tight relative to ATR.

Pre-trade filters

• Spread filter: only trade when spread ≤ (typical spread × 1.5) or an absolute threshold (e.g., ≤ 2 pips for EURUSD).

  Volatility filter: ATR(14) must be inside an acceptable band (not extremely low—avoid noise—or extremely high—avoid news spikes). Use ATR Percent to detect abnormal spikes.

  Session filter: restrict to liquid sessions (London open and London–NY overlap).

  News filter (optional): avoid trading within ±15–30 minutes of high-impact releases.

Entry rules (all conditions must be true)

Direction / Trend

• Prefer trades only in the direction indicated by SuperTrend: buy only when SuperTrend is bullish, sell only when it’s bearish.

Value / Pullback

• Price pulls back into Bollinger bandas or touches/approaches the lower/middle (for buys) or upper/middle (for sells) Bollinger Band; this signals a retracement into value.

Momentum trigger

• Wait for a fast momentum oscillator (WaveTrend or MA-of-RSI) to cross back in the direction of the trade (e.g., oscillator crosses up from below for a long). This reduces false entries on weak retracements. 

Micro-confirmation candle

• Optional: require a small confirming candle close in direction of trade (e.g., bullish engulfing or a candle with close near its high for longs) on M1.

Position entry

• Market order on trigger candle close (or immediately if you prefer faster execution) with pre-calculated SL and TP.

Position sizing & stops

• Risk per trade: 0.2%–0.6% of account equity (use smaller % live).

  Stop Loss (SL): ATR-based: SL = ATR(14) × multiplier where multiplier is 0.8–1.6 depending on instrument volatility. Use the ATR Percent indicator to avoid entering when ATR spikes.

  Take Profit (TP): small fixed pip target or a multiple of SL — scalping favors 0.8×–1.5× SL or fixed 5–12 pips on EURUSD (adjust per symbol). Consider using a two-tiered TP: take partial profit at TP1 (e.g., 0.9× SL) and trail the rest.

  Lot sizing formula: lot = (equity * risk_pct) / (SL_in_money) — convert SL pips to monetary value using symbol tick/contract size.

Trade management

1. Breakeven rule: move SL to breakeven + 0.5× spread after price reaches 0.8× TP.

2. ATR trailing: if position extends, trail SL by ATR steps (e.g., move SL by 0.5× ATR every time price moves by 0.5× ATR). Use ATR Percent changes to detect abnormal moves and tighten or close positions.

3. Time stop: close the trade if it lasts longer than N minutes (e.g., 10–15 minutes on M1 scalper).

4. Max open trades: 1–2 per symbol, limit account-wide concurrency to control correlation risk.

Example entry (long) — concrete sequence

1. SuperTrend indicates bull.

2. Price retraces to or lower Bollinger Band on M1.

3. WaveTrend / MA-of-RSI crosses up (momentum resumes).

4. Place market buy with SL = ATR×1.0 below recent swing low, TP = SL×1.2 (or fixed pips). Position size per risk formula.

5. Move SL to breakeven after price reaches 0.8× TP; trail via ATR if extended.

Conclusions

Pulse Scalper is a compact, mechanistic scalping blueprint that uses a trend filter (SuperTrend), volatility sizing (ATR/ATR Percent), a band/compression detector (Bollinger crossover), and a fast momentum trigger (WaveTrend or MA-of-RSI). The combination aims to take small, high-probability moves with strict risk and execution rules. All referenced indicators and many alternatives are available in the MQL5 CodeBase — download and test them inside MetaTrader 5 before live use.
